A Decade?

Has it really been a decade since I crossed the threshold of eternity with my sweetheart? It's amazing how fast time flies. For our 10 year anniversary, we made plans to just get away. We dropped the kids off with Grandma and Pa and headed out for a few days.

Our first destination was The Land of Oz to see Wicked. The musical broadway show that I've wanted to see for a couple years now was finally a dream come true. A didn't know too much about the story, but knew the music. He was excited, mostly because I was so ecstatic over the whole experience. He admitted he didn't have high expectations, but as we took our seats and marveled over the set, I know his heart skipped a beat.
We were told no cameras inside. We passed the signs that said to check your camera. I was so nervous about getting caught, especially by the head usher on our aisle. The one who took his job seriously as he swiftly guided folks to their seats and gently tapped on his ear piece like a secret serviceman. But everyone with camera phones were clicking away. I was torn. What to do? A took the camera out of my bag and click, click, click. No regrets.
Before the show started, we viewed a map of Oz with the glowing Emerald City.

Amazing. Simply unforgettable. Moving. Pure entertainment. We LOVED the show. By the end of the first act, we were clapping wildly with looks of pure astonishment. I was fighting back tears. We looked at each other and both knew the show was FANTASTIC!!

We had lovely seats. I mean, seriously...they were amazing. Row M in the Center on the aisle.

See how thrilled he was to see the show? We couldn't stop talking about it, reliving it, singing and humming the music. Like I said...it was unforgettable.

We fled straight to the beach after the show.

It was there that we completely relaxed and had some fun for a few days. We slept in, ate whatever we wanted, lounged on the beach, played in the pool and in the lazy river. We went out to eat and actually had a great time shopping together. No kids to interrupt our conversation. No diapers to be changed. Three little mouths didn't need to be fed. Six little feet weren't heard running. Thirty little fingers didn't need to be cleaned. We spoke of those cute little children of ours, but it was soooo nice to just be together.

Do we have to go home?

Mom? Do you mind keeping the kids a few more days? PLEEEAASE? I wish we could have gotten away with that, but A has a job and I think we would eventually miss our kids.

Thanks mom and dad for playing with your grandkids for several days and allowing us to celebrate.
