Second Month of the Year...February

February was a busy month. We were on the homestretch for the Kindergarten year, the boys were pros at checking their own library books out, and we had Baby H's blessing at church. The weather was very mild. Only one snow this year, which was a real bummer.

E loves to read to H. This is her opportunity to be teacher to a very still and attentive student.

Once 2012 began, we were hopeful that E would be challenged in her class. When she started the school year reading and writing about 60 sight words, we were hopeful that she would be worked with individually or in a small group. She wasn't. E patiently waited and sat through daily phonics lessons. It took forever and through months of waiting, she regressed. The teacher didn't have her in leveled reading books and when the class wrote in their "journals", E was told to copy what the teacher wrote. It was extremely frustrating. So, as I said before, once the new year started, we really wanted to see some progress. It came...but way too slowly. I started working with E again, but I could only do so much with the time frame I had. After a long day at school, E did not want to sit down to "work" very often.

 Baby H loves to talk.
 No way!
Patty Cake makes me laugh every time.
When you leave the room, I get a little nervous.

We bought E this doll when we potty trained her, which was right before W was born. The funny thing about it was that W was just a tad bigger than the doll. So I often gasped or looked twice when I would see the doll in E's arms or simply sitting alone on the couch. I've learned this time around.

Winter nights bring a festival of lights!
The kids perform a colorful show with lights and music. The boys provide the humor as they dance with E in dresses. O is almost busting out of E's Cinderella dress!
