Treat Street

Before Halloween, we decided to trick or treat the historic downtown of a neighboring city. Everyone dressed up and visited all the shops for candy. There was a storytelling and a costume contest as well.
Miss E was the perfect Cinderella.

Notice...she wore her headband just like Cinderella...over the ears.

Love the Tootsie Roll smile.

E voluntarily took the hand of a younger trick or treater and led him down the streets.

At times, it seemed she dragged him.

Waiting during the costume contest.

The contest started at 6pm, so we had plenty of time to stop by the fire station to see the big trucks. When we returned to the contest, which was right before 6pm, they had already started. I ushered E towards the younger kids and realized the judges had already written down the winners. WHAT?!!! I was a little miffed. So, E basically stood there while they judged the older kids. When we left, our sweet princess looked a little gloomy. Why didn't they look at me, Mommy? she asked. Oh, poor Cinderelly (cue music). She lost the bounce in her step...her shoulders sagged downward...her frown was getting droopier by the second. Her Prince Charming had to swoop in and carry her several blocks because she was losing the will to walk and kept stumbling on her dress.
However, as we walked through downtown, E received several marvelous comments. Several people in cars actually stopped to express what a beautiful princess she was. It definitely lifted her spirits, and let's face it, it lifted mine too!
That Prince Charming...

Princesses always dig him.

The boys were Jaq and Gus and I was the Fairy Godmother.
Our Fall Festival comes up next. We completely forgot our camera, so I hope to have pictures soon.
